Anquan Boldin Jr. Commits to Florida A&M Basketball Strengthening Rattlers’ Backcourt
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M University (FAMU) has secured a significant addition to its men’s basketball program with the commitment of Anquan Boldin Jr., a 6-foot-4 guard transferring from the University at Buffalo. The son of former NFL star Anquan Boldin, Jr. brings a combination of athleticism, experience, and leadership to the Rattlers as they prepare for the upcoming season under head coach Charlie Ward.

A Promising Talent Joins the Rattlers
Boldin Jr., a native of Delray Beach, Florida, started all 31 games for Buffalo during the 2024–25 season, showcasing his durability and consistency on the court. Over his two-year tenure with the Bulls, he averaged 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, shooting 46.4% from the field. His defensive contributions were notable, averaging nearly one steal per game.
From IMG Academy to the NCAA
Before his collegiate career, Boldin Jr. honed his skills at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where he was recognized for his work ethic and versatility. His high school performance earned him a spot at Buffalo, where he quickly became a key player. Now, with two years of eligibility remaining, he looks to make a significant impact at FAMU.
A Strategic Move for Both Player and Program
Boldin Jr.’s decision to transfer to Florida A&M aligns with his desire to continue developing his game while contributing to a program with a rich basketball tradition. Under the guidance of Coach Charlie Ward, a former Heisman Trophy winner and NBA player, Boldin Jr. is expected to play a pivotal role in the Rattlers’ backcourt.
Looking Ahead
The addition of Boldin Jr. is a significant boost for the Rattlers as they aim to build on their recent successes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). His experience and leadership are anticipated to be invaluable assets as the team prepares for the challenges of the upcoming season.
